Food and Coffee ‘To Go’ from Pubs and Bars

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Good morning and welcome

A pub I regularly walk past has a new A-board outside; offering take-away coffee. Don’t drink the stuff myself (apparently I’m caffeinated enough already), but the meteoric rise of “coffee to go” can’t and shouldn’t be ignored by the on trade. We asked the members of KAMunity whether they would buy a takeaway coffee from a pub; an even-ish split of 47% said they would, whilst 53% wouldn’t. Pubs have been offering coffee for a long time- some better than others- but it seems we haven’t quite got the credibility in the category to compete well with coffee shops just yet[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”4622″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Meanwhile, in alcohol range news, you may have noticed that ardent Brexit-supporter, Tim Martin has removed Jagermeister and several French brandies from their pubs and replaced with British versions.

I’m sure Mr Martin and his team completed some in-depth research before they came to these conclusions, but we thought we’d run the issue through our KAMunity; we asked whether customers would rather have a British version of Jagermeister or the original. The result? Much like the ACTUAL Berexit vote- straight straight down the middle- 50% Vs 50% but with one of those drinks being slightly more palatable as a British version- can you guess which one?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”4624″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]This evening I am off to a vegan yoga and meditation retreat in the Cotswolds. Yes, really. AND THERE’S NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED. What can I say, a friend caught me at a weak, hungover moment and I thought this was a good idea.

I wonder if they’ll search our bags on the way in…

I’m then off on my PROPER holiday to the US on Monday, so next week’s email will have an “across the pond” focus.
Have a great weekend
Katy
