Good morning all!
We’ve recently been working with a Pub Co who were looking to optimise the breakfast opportunity across their estate.
Not every pub is set up to serve breakfast, and it’s certainly not an option for everyone, but whether you’re looking at an “all you can eat” breakfast at a Toby Carvery (£4.29!), an Indian-influenced brekkie at Dishoom or hipster-favoured waffles and avocado at The Clifton Pub, breakfast has become a BIG thing for UK pubs, bars and restaurants.
But is the trend set to continue? We asked the members of KAMunity whether they intend to eat breakfast away from home more in 2018 than they did in 2017. Just 8% said they did, with 40% saying they planned to eat breakfast out LESS often.
The good news, however, is that when asked WHERE they would like to get breakfast from if they weren’t eating at home, 33% (the highest number of respondents) told us that they would like to visit their local pub. Coffee shops (Starbucks and the like) came in second with 21% of the vote.
Personally, my favourite pub breakfast is served by a friend of mine in Wales who has a pub next to a station and every morning between 7-8am sells bacon and egg baps out of his side door to all the commuters for £2.50 a pop. He averages 70-80 a day. And delicious they are too!

I’m looking forward to an ex-colleagues’ reunion night tonight in North London, which, no doubt, will be a late one. Tomorrow I’m aiming to spend some time sorting out my garden (if this weather would only behave!), and then a quiet night in. On Sunday I’m down to Surrey to see my Dad and family for Sunday lunch and a few glasses of wine.
Have a lovely, hopefully DRY, weekend
Katy
