My week has included three insightful, interesting days at the Restaurant Marketer and Innovator European Summit, during which I presented some results from our Generation Z report and Blake gave a flavour of our brand new “Plan to Plate” report.
There are 327,000 eating out outlets in the UK- and the market is worth £89 billion and by our calculations, there are 130,000 possible different customer journeys that someone can make from when they think about eating out to when they end up paying the bill.
Our new report helps operators and suppliers to understand them.
Some highlights of this brand spanking new report include the fact that 56% of those questioned looked at the menu before they arrived at the venue the last time they ate out- highlighting the need for pubs and restaurants to have not only a great, user-friendly website, but one that’s up to date too!
The continuing influence of Instagram is also very much a stand-out part of this report, with 1 in 3 consumers telling us that they have been influenced to choose a particular dish by how photogenic it was and more than 1 in 3 people have taken a photo of their food in a restaurant or pub, which rises to 1 in 2 for 18-34 year olds!
Get in touch if you’d like to know more about this exciting new report, we are offering an early bird discount until the end of January!
Tonight I’m having a quiet night in, preparing for a busy weekend that starts with training early tomorrow morning, then out to an immersive “Bake off” experience tomorrow night (bought for me by Mr Katy for Christmas. He knows I hate baking…). on Sunday, the whole family are heading down to my Grandma’s for lunch and a (sure to be competitive) couple of games of bowling- her Christmas gift to us all…
Have a great weekend
